If you're a James bond fan it's great, if you aren't its a little above average. Its not an outstanding game, but with Bond themes you know pretty well what to expect and as one film reviewer once said, perhaps a little unfairly, "People go to see a Bond movie for one reason only: to see foreigners shot in the head with a silenced PP7.". If the Bond movies don't bore you then neither will tis game. Quantum of solace fits the bill to perfection. Even main courses are as different from each other as the soup is from the dessert. Make them varied enough and the menu doesn't get boring. Take several shoot outs and a few fast action scenes along the way to a big crescendo of a finish and you have the James bond recipe for a subsidiary action. The scene is set and from then on we have the usual action locations, public buildings, big project building sites, boats etc. Bond, being Bond takes on a complcated assault path through the mansion where every room, including bathrooms, are full of terrorists.
The first level starts with you, Bond, in the grounds of a mansion where a couple of baddies appear from behind a bush and start shooting. This is a solid shooter with good set pieces, decent AI, and even the odd novel idea. The thing about Bond movies is that they are realistic and belevable ut at the same time totally unrealistic and unbelievable. being a Bond themed game how could it be anyjthing but. But, guess what, despite it being a mixture, it's good, not outstanding, just plain honest adventure. It's more a mixture of more than one Bond screen adventure. It says Quantum of Solace on the box and this suggests that the game bears some relation to the film of the same name.
